Many of the runners will have seen Santa Clause and Santa Junior this year - they both ran 5KM event and yes, did beat the Pevensey (even the older one!!!). They were running to raise money for the Salvos Christmas Toy Appeal and if you would like to know more, follow this link Santa needs you!

The 2007 Sweat Vs Steam was held in overcast conditions.  Runners enjoyed the scenic course with breathtaking views of the Echuca wharf and the river.

The PS Adelaide took 63 minutes, 35 seconds to complete the 13 KM race!  How did you compare?. Out of interest, the mean (average) time for runners in the 13KM run was 67.11

Well known runner, Mark Thompson was first to finish in  43 minutes, 34 seconds beating last year's time of 43 minutes 51 seconds.

Karen Natoli (winner of the Melbourne Marathon in 2006) was the first female entrant home in a time of 50.18.

Though the Sweat Vs Steam is is a fun event with its unique opportunity to run against the paddlesteamers, its great to see elite athletes participating.  The YMCA was also delighted to see that 52 junior runners competed in the 2007 Sweat Vs Steam - it's these runners that need to see quality competitors like Mark and Karen in the event to encourage them to continue their running.  So to Mark and Karen a big thanks and hope we'll see you next year.

The 5KM runners were up against against the PS Pevensey which took 35 minutes 07 seconds.  Will Meggitt was first home with a time of 18.24 - he's only 13 so don't be surprised to see this young man running for Australia in the future! The mean (average) time for 5KM runners was 32.07, so the Pevensey finds it tougher to beat an average runner.
