YMCA of Greater Murray Youth & Community Services Grants

Introduction:

YMCA Youth and Community Services is a charity organisation with a direct link to the YMCA of Greater Murray. Youth Services carry out a number of community projects, programs and events that provide financial resources that has enabled the establishment of a grant scheme.  

The Youth and Community Services Grant Scheme is an opportunity to access funding or in-kind support for many aspects including participation, planning, development and/or delivery of community activities. 

Applications are invited from both individuals and organisations.  

Specific areas of interest to Youth & Community Services are;

  • Health & Wellbeing
  • Recreation & Leisure
  • Community Development

 The YMCA of Greater Murray is committed to supporting local projects that promote community participation in recreation and leisure, and enhance lifestyle opportunities for the residents of the Murray and Campaspe Shire’s.

Objectives of the YMCA of Greater Murray Youth & Community Services Grant Assistance Scheme.

  • To promote broad community participation in Recreation and Leisure
  • To support local individuals to reach their potential in their chosen sporting endeavours
  • To work alongside the community on developing a diverse range of activities that embrace all forms of community health and wellbeing.
  • To provide opportunities for participation for those with limited options; address issues of access and equity; encourage innovation and collaboration between groups.

 These objectives are linked to the YMCA’s broader organizational goals to build strong people, strong families and strong communities.

 

General Terms of Funding

All organisations applying for funding must be not for profit, incorporated (if appropriate) under the Associations Incorporations Act, or be in partnership with an incorporated organisation by letter of agreement.

Organisations should have broad community reach and profile, meet the funding criteria and can demonstrate sound management and excellence in their activities. They should have a high degree of community and/or volunteer involvement, and demonstrate other fundraising activities and strategies.

Organisations are required to have an appropriate level of Public Liability Insurance, with a minimum $5 million cover.

 Applicants must apply in the round prior to the event/activity taking place.

 All applications must have at least one letter of support endorsing the application

Applicants successful in receiving funding may be required to submit a report to Youth Services following the participation of the event/activity. The YMCA also retains the right to access the grant recipient for marketing/promotional causes.

Support will also be given to those individuals who represent traditionally disadvantaged groups eg people with disabilities, people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities. 

The YMCA reserves the rights to refuse funding.

 

What will not be funded

  • Programs considered being the major responsibility of other agencies or other government bodies.
  • Projects which primarily promote strong political, religious or spiritual beliefs.
  • Programs/Individuals residing outside the Campaspe & Murray Shire’s.
  • Retrospective programs or expenses.

 

How to apply for a Youth & Community Services Grant

1.                  Read through the entire document and check that you/your organisation are eligible to apply, and that your project satisfies the funding criteria.

2.                  Complete all sections of the application form. Incomplete forms will not be considered.

3.                  Ensure all support materials are attached to your application. Refer to checklist for more information.

4.                  Keep a copy of your application form and supporting documentation for your own records, as you may need to refer to this when discussing your application. All applicants must use the application form provided.

 Applications must be received prior to 5pm on the closing date. Applicants will be advised in writing of the result of their application.

How will my application be evaluated?

 
  • Applications will be assessed based on the criteria outlined in the application form.
  • All applicants will be notified in writing of the outcome within 3 weeks of the rounds closing date.
  • Applicants should appreciate that funds are limited and grants can only be made to a restricted number of applicants.
  • To ensure your application is considered please complete every question and attach all the required information to the application form.
