FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Echuca's Sweat vs Steam promoted during City2Surf
14 August, 2006 -- With the continued interest in the Echuca
Sweat Vs Steam, a group of YMCA volunteers entered Sydney's City to Surf fun
run. The 2006 City to Surf attracted over 63,000 registered participants and the
YMCA of Greater Murray decided it would be an ideal forum to tell potential
runners about their unique Sweat Vs Steam fun run.

2006 City to Surf. Their shirts were emblazoned with the question
"Can you outrun a paddlesteamer? Ask us about the Echuca Sweat Vs
Steam"
Taking 38 minutes before the crossing the starting line in the City to
Surf, the YMCA volunteers quipped "In Echuca, we have 250 runners and
breakfast is provided!" |

There are some similarities between the 2 runs, the City to
Surf follows the water with great views of Sydney Harbour while Echuca's
Sweat vs Steam follows the river along bush tracks giving runners
excellent views of both the Murray River and Echuca's historic port.
The Sweat vs Steam is run on a flat course over 13KM (with a smaller 5KM
run for those wishing to be less strenuous). Photo shows YMCA volunteers
enjoying a harbour view during the run. |
The YMCA Sweat V's Steam is a unique 13 kilometer fun run against the
world's oldest wooden-hulled paddlesteamer, the PS Adelaide. The run is along Murray
River tracks and passes by the historic Port of Echuca before heading across the
river to Moama in NSW. Runners then return and finish at Hopwood Gardens
where a FREE (for participants) breakfast is served, followed by a much needed
massage.
The 2006 YMCA Sweat V's Steam will start at 8.00am on Sunday, 19th November Hopwood Gardens (opposite the Bridge Hotel).
