Echuca Back9 Golf CourseThis picturesque 9-hole golf course is set next to the Campaspe River in the middle of Echuca. Echuca's original golf course, it was known as Echuca City Golf Course, the Back9 was saved from the developer's axe by Echuca's community and is now managed by the YMCA. Don't be fooled that the Back9 is only 9 holes, many local judges say that if you can master the Back9, then Rich River's resort-style open fairways are easy to play. Let's go through this challenging 36-par course. 1st hole. A par 4, 317 metre right dogleg. Rated 7. 2nd hole. A par 4 340 metre left dogleg. Rated 5. You need a good tee drive to get a view of the green. 3rd hole. A par 5 457 metre right dogleg. Rated 4. The right dogleg can also bring the dam into play on the right side. 4th hole. A par 3 150 metre across the dam. Rated 8. 5th hole. A par 4 369 metre straight hole. Rated 2. A long hole! 6th hole. A par 3 126 metre. Rated 9 and the only hole a good golf can take easily but beware - strong westerly winds can blow you into the Campaspe on the left. 7th hole. A par 4 350 metre. Rated 6 (and some say should be 2) a dogleg for a change with the greens protected by devil's gap - huge redgums on either side leaving a 20 metre gap. 8th hole. A par 4 401 metre. Rated 1 and understandably so! It's another dogleg that comes into play early and makes it very hard to get a par unless you go over the trees. 9th hole. A par 5 501 metre. Rated 3 and the longest hole on the course has to be a dogleg too! Try to cut the dogleg and the redgums will have your ball if not the dam! At the end of the 9th is the clubroom and volunteer gatekeepers will always welcome you to have a cuppa. The Back9 welcomes families and on a Monday night there is an active junior development group. Green fees (day pass) are $16 adult, $7 Children. Group bookings for 10 or more players are welcome - simply complete the form below and submit it to the Echuca YMCA.
