The YMCA Greater Murray is a community based charity that delivers programs and services to help build strong people, strong families and strong communities. Proudly managing 13 Recreation Facilities, (making the organisation the largest provider of recreation programs and services in Northern Victoria and Southern New South Wales), we work in partnership with government, other non-profit groups and partners to provide programs and services in health and fitness, recreation, child care and youth and family services.

 

 

 

 

 

 

At the moment, in the Greater Murray community the YMCA:

 

  • Runs a breakfast program at local schools, giving children access to healthy and nutritious fuel for their learning

  • Assists with the Moama Primary Schools Crossroads program working with children at risk of disengaging from school.

  • Supports local junior sporting clubs

  • Works with the Crossenvale Community in their Keep Active program; removing barriers to physical activity

  • Assists in the delivery of health initiatives such as Know Your Numbers Blood Pressure testing and National Diabetes Week.

  • Provides free child care to members, supporting healthy and happy families - Runs an annual camp at Camp Wyuna in Queenscliff for underprivileged children

  • Has introduced a community gardening program that provides affordable gardening services, with half of the profits going towards developing youth initiatives and;

  • Puts the spotlight on workplace health by conducting their own Workplace Wellness program in conjunction with Echuca Regional Health and offering similar programs to local businesses.
