| You probably all know that Echuca and surrounding districts have
been devastated by drought. The local Salvos run an annual
Christmas appeal to give toys to needy kids and in 2007 their funding even dried up. A group of locals decided to run the Sweat vs Steam dressed as
Santa helpers and asked for sponsorship which will go to the Salvos
Christmas appeal. We believe a Santa Run in Australia has appeal
especially in a rural area coming up to Christmas and what about the
Salvos as a charity - none better!
We reckon it's a good cause and hope you did too.
Santa beat the Pevensey in 2007 with a time of 29.15!
More importantly, we raised some $1,700 with the help of the YMCA and
Sweat Vs Steam supporters - this money went to the Salvos Christmas
Appeal! OK, how can you help. If you want to run as a Santa too in 2008, come along dressed
as a helper - the charity-based Santa runs in the UK attract hundreds of Santa's
- we'd be happy with a dozen!
Go Santa - who knows we might even be able to make it an
annual event for the Salvos! But we're still trying to raise funds for this year, you might like
to get your friends to throw a few dollars into sponsoring us. All monies raised
through this effort will go to the Salvos!
